    Very good Blossom. If you're flex was only at 2 you've gotten lucky with the silicon!

    @TBoneSan - Heya hun thanks for the reply the technician re pasted my gpu's and cpu when he had to take out all the components from the old chassis to the new one but he scratched the new one grrrrrr. So now having the new case replaced. Also he had problems with the center console surround which wouldn't touch the power button. I don't blame him but he shouldn't have used a penknife to get the sisterboard to fit. Photo attached

    @Blossom81 I quickly ran an old version of XTU with my 3920xm @ 4.3Ghz (had some stuff running in the background) and got 824, what are the odds!!, I am in desperate need of a re-paste so I didn't try 4.4, temps hit 97C as it was.

    Based on that I would say you can probably do a bit better, I'd start with making sure you have your power and current limits set high enough.

    @TBoneSan I agree, 4.4 with 2 flex is pretty good, I can run 4.3 with 0 flex like i did just then but 4.4 needs at least 12 to be stable.

    Thanks, I agree that the i7-3940xm can do better but I needed the new paste to settle first before hammering it lol. Your score is really good for a i7-3920xm @4.3ghz eek 97*c is bit hot tho. I don't understand this flex so lower you go the more heat?

    I really need to repaste my cpu, thats why it got hot but I have been way to busy lately, temps are fine so long as I don't go past 4.0Ghz. Higher flex (voltage) will always give you higher temps, usually in exchange for stability.
    According to HWbot your turbo boost power limit is 69W which is a bit low for 4.4Ghz, I used over 70w at 4.3. At least you know were to start.... when your ready, wind that power limit up and let your 3940xm loose!! :D

    @blossom honest to god you gotta do a repaste with Liquid Ultra. You'd easily be able to get 4.5 with far better temps. Probably better than that even as it seems you've got a nice chip. Go on.. You know you want to :)

    @kenny27 - Thanks for the tips and letting me know about the turbo boost power limit. I turned off the turbo boost in the bios that's probably why its low power and at good temps?

    @TBoneSan - I'm using my new Arctic MX-4 paste which is doing a good job so far so i'll use that up and see how I go on. I've heard horror stories about liquid ultra about staining the hs and even corroding aluminium is that true? also is it a pig to clean when I need to re-paste if using liquid ultra?

    Yeah so whenever you get rid of your laptop make sure you sell me that 3940XM. That is a remarkable chip for sure you've got there.

    The horror stories are mainly people who've used it with an aluminium HS. It will eat aluminium. You don't have anything to worry about since the m18 HS is copper. It's easy to clean the CPU - no staining. But it will stain your HS which really doesn't matter.
    Best part. You shouldn't need to re-paste.

    @Papusan and @Mr. Fox can definitely vouch how good this paste is.

    @Blossom81
    Anyone who likes performance + high end product should listen carefully when it comes to Clu. There is no other option... Have used exactly the same application of CLU on my Hotwell Extreme since the beginning of April 2014. Over 19 months now... And No change in temperature. None above, none next to. Liquid Ultra is the only paste that can keep the temperature under control when my Extreme processor run +114w in benchmarks. This is impossible with the best available conventional thermal paste as ICD, Thermal Grizzly, Gelid Extreme or other top brand. Run and buy... Preferably yesterday. Why use the next best when the best can be purchased :rolleyes:?
