If you uninstall VLC or disable GPU acceleration do you still have the same problem?

Google Search: vlc gpu acceleration crash

Another thing to bear in mind, VLC has the potential to blow your speakers out at high volume. Google Search: vlc blown speakers

It's a known bug with his BIOS.. Basically you can't use your laptop on battery mode.. people with the M17x R4 have the same issue when using an 880M with his vBIOS..

Is it only happening on 350.12?

EDIT: Well, that explains a lot. Haha. Thanks for jumping in!

I think svl7 had to do something to the battery P-state to stop the 880M from throttling on AC power when overclocked that doesn't play nice on battery power. You have to decide whether you want improved overclocked performance without erratic clock changes or stability on battery. Seems you cannot have it both ways with 880M for some weird reason. You can always switch to IGFX for battery, then back to discrete GPU for AC power.
