Am I pretty much out of luck with turning HT off with the AW18? Everywhere I've searched points me toward an unlocked BIOS... is there no other way?

Why would you want to turn HT off? It's one of most stupid things I've ever heard and Yes, it is not possible to turn it off!

Replace your Core i7 with a Core i5 CPU and it will provide the lackluster performance you are seeking.

AW18 has no flashable unlocked sBIOS.

Why do you want to turn off hyperthreading? In literally 99.9% of circumstances Hyperthreading is a plain 30% boost in processing power.

Why would you purchase a 4930MX to turn off hyperthreading to boot?

Cut the guy some slack gents. Maybe he is developing a multithreaded application and needs to test multi threaded capability/HT capability.

Yeah, not so much. Disabling HT was rumored to increase fps in a game. My lack of knowledge on what HT actually provides lead me to want to test it. My apologies!

No need to apologize haha. It happens. The performance that you're getting will be better with HT on. There may be some games that aren't fully optimized that may see a benefit from disabling it, just like some games aren't compatible with SLI.
