It would be nice if the new mxm GTX 980 could be installed on the m18x r2 :) , What are your thoughts?

My thoughts can be found at the thread listed above. The prospect of full size Pascal card's, 120Hz G-Sync + 3D Vision displays, Skylake+ Processor's and the newest PCI-E storage (i.e. Intel 750) is a lot to get excited about.

im going to go with "not ever going to happen...ever"...at the very least you'd need an elaborate custom heatsink to cool this beast

Doubt it... Unless msi or clevo releases a lower wattage standard mxm module instead of the new bigger one.

lets see how it goes :) I am really looking forward to a Pascal GTX 1080m MXM 3.0B in M18x R2 in July 2016. If that happens, that would be my last upgrade to my m18x r2 (If it survives that long)

Well, I was doing a bit of research. 2 X 980Ms (assuming if the game is optimized for SLI) is stronger than a single desktop 980 in a laptop.

But now, there isn't any space to put in the Alienware M18Xs/18s. Plus, the heat the 18 generates is going to downclock it a lot ==
