    Annoying Boot up issue

    Having a weird issue that when I boot up the screen stays dark but hear all the normal sounds. It then gets to my logon screen (still dark).
    At that stage if I hibernate and the start again the screen comes on as normal and finishes off the boot without any issue. If I restart then it also starts normally.
    But a fresh restart when the machine has been off always causes the issue.

    Any ideas on what might be causing this ? How to fix?

    I've tried changing the graphics drivers and also rolling back the Bios but this doesn't seem to make any difference.

    Should have mentioned the machine is running Windows 7.
