My hard drives were vibrating a lot so they came to repair them but they didn't bring the hard drives and bought the flash 64gb SSD drive that would be IMPOSSIBLE to cause vibration because it has no moving parts. God these people are idiots.

    Sigh.

Don`t you know that SSD memory is magical and give you over 20x the capacity despite whats written in the specs?

If it's just the drives making vibrations, ask them to dispatch the HDD's and you install them... That's gotta be the easiest thing to do (as opposed to having technicians come out, or sending the system to Dell), LOL.

I agree... no point in dispatching a tech to replace any kind of drive HDD or SSD. Way too easy.

There could be an error in the parts catalog. That is the most likely reason the wrong parts were sent. If the person packing the box is only provided with a part number, they are not going to be able to identify the part being sent is the wrong one to solve the trouble reported. I think there is a good chance it is a mistake rather than someone being an idiot.

Definitely do this yourself SS. It would be way too long to send back, repair, then hope they got it right. Just have the parts dispatched to your home and you are golden. I understand people who don't want to get completely under the system for GPU replacement/repasting/etc. However this one is a no brainer and we can just guide you through the installation in minutes. Sorry for the bum experience on the repair, I know it's frustrating.

I know this has been discussed before, but is there things you can say or do to ALWAYS have parts dispatched instead? With all the bad comments, I'd like to just do it all myself...taking my time, being more careful, etc...Have a lot of tech experience working on old PCS, and enterprise server stuff in the past...

I've always just asked for parts dispatch whenever I needed some work done.

Better than have a clumpsy "dont care" technician come make scratches on your beloved notebook...

The screen needs to be replaced too, if it was just the harddrives I'd do it myself. They're gonna be here soon.

I had a tech come round and replace the 7970 which failed the other week, he was very careful and took his time and everything went well with no errors.

Not all techs are sloppy s.

The tech just left, the screen is worse than before. Lots of light bleed and yellowness, I think he tightened it way too much. I tried loosening it a bit but it's still very yellow, they're replacing it again. Also they didn't bring the driver disc that was ordered so now I'm screwed and waiting for them to call back so they can install the drivers the correct way. I asked them for instructions so I could just do it myself and they said no.

Guy on the phone tells me to install windows on the 64GB sata. Guy calls back later to help with the drivers and stuff. My harddrives are not showing up. He tells me I should have installed it on the 750GB harddrives. Have to reinstall windows again. I install it on one of the 750GB and now the other 750GB isn't showing up. I try to install the drivers for the internet so he can get into my computer, drivers did nothing, still no internet. Ask if I can use the alien respawn I made, he said no. Ask him what the point of respawn is, it says it backs up drivers and stuff. He says I can't use it to restore my laptop...wth?

Wth is with this company? Sending it back so they can figure it out.

It's hit or miss with Dell. Sometimes you get an awesome tech, or you get an awesome computer with zero problems or you get a slew of issues with both the repair tech and hardware.

I like learning how to replace parts on my R2, so I usually just ask them to send out the parts. I tell them I have computer assembly experience.

Sorry to hear about your situation my man, good luck.

I'd get a refund by this point. They don't deserve your $4k+ for being so sloppy.
