    Hello,

It seems my cpu fan is dying. I have extreme 3 pipe cpu cooler with Zalman STG-2 thermal paste but my temperature is still very high (90-97C @ 4.0 GHz). It seems that fan is not working properly even if set manually to full speed. I don't know why 3rd core is always 90-97C when all others are 80-90C. If i repaste then it's a bit lower but still 3rd core is much hotter than the others.

Does M18xR2 fan fits in M18xR1? I can buy one.

Does M18xR1 has 4CFM fan only when R2 has about 12CFM?

    Regards

Edit:: I just checked that i have 4CFM fan. Shouldn't I replace it for 12 CFM when i use i7-2920XM?

J77H4 is the part number for the M18xR2 CPU fan, but I have no idea if it will fit in the R1. Mr. Fox would probably know.

When you manually set the fans to full speed, is there hot air coming out of the vent? Does the fan make any strange noises or sound like it's wobbling?

My CPU doesn't get very hot even when I only have my fans set to 50% speed. Have you cleaned the fan/heat sink recently?

Please don't be offended by my dumb questions, I'm just trying to eliminate any other possible problems.

    Hey,

Yeah I will ask him. @Mr. Fox :)

When forcing manual fan it's noticeably slower than two other gpu fans but the slider is up to 7000 in hwinfo. I only checked about 3500, is it safe to click 7000?

Edit:: DELL EC reports 3900 RPM for cpu fan, looks good.

Fans are 100% clean, thermal paste is only month old.
