    Hey guys!

I had problems with my original GTX 680M 2GB GPU from my Alienware M18X R2 and I replaced it with a new GTX 980M 8GB

Changing the bios settings and disabling the legacy I had no problems starting and installing the original drivers but I noticed that the gpu fan never turns on and the card overheats!

I'm already using unlocked A11 bios, and the board's original VBios, what can solve my problem?

can you force the fan to turn on in Hwinfo?
Could check the gpu fan is plugged in and the wires are not damaged?

Otherwise your fan may have failed.

I haven't tested it yet with Hwinfo but the fan is connected and functional, as soon as the computer is turned on it activates in the bios self test as well as the cpu fan but it doesn't work when the card is in use

My guess is that the 980M was pulled from an 18 and has the wrong vBIOS. If you can, open GPU-Z and check what vBIOS the card has.

The secondary 980M in the 18 had a different vBIOS than the primary card and it can't be used as a primary card with the secondary vBIOS because of fan controls.

EDIT: If you got it from China and it said 'New', I'd bet my middle nut that it isn't new.

Yes, I imagine vbios must be incompatible and causing this problem.
It follows the GPU-Z specifications along with the original vbios file that I removed from the board.
Could you help me find the correct vbios file for this card to work properly?

And yes, this board came from china and I have no hope of being really new o_O

Yes, I was able to set the fan speeds through HWiNFO but I would like this to work natively correctly :(

It looks like that vBIOS should be good so it's possible that something on the PCB is bad.

You could try this vBIOS though, it is supposed to be a Dell vBIOS for the primary slot

Flash at your own risk though.
