Will the Alienware Graphics Amplifier work with the M18X R2???

No, you need dedicated port for it to work. It is not portable like other DIY e-gpu solutions. It's not useful though as you can get SLI with M18xR2. It may be usable on newer models with only one card soldered to the motherboard.

You could probably use the expresscard slot for eGPU over the wifi card...alienware 18 did not have expresscard which is why some owners had to be creative, like Scanner

I never realized the M18x r2 came with an express card slot. The EGPU adapter does come with an express card version. It's a heck of a lot easier to hook up. I used that version on my kids old Toshiba Qusimo PC to add a GTX 970 to it. -

That's very useful for Toshiba Qosmio as all GPUs mounted had factory defect. I got it too as many guys on the internet.
