... what happen if a piece breaks. Can I buy a new one and replace it or my m18x will just be good for dump? I don't mind to pay the last video card and replace my 6970m if it breaks. I'm just scared that my laptop could break after my 1 year warranty and have no possibility to repair it. I don't know how the hardware is made in this laptop. Some people told me that Dell's pieces are welded.

    Can someone reassure me?

Oh ya, parts should be available to buy for a while. Worst case, go on e-bay, there are always companies parting out laptops. For example, do a ebay search on Dell 8600 laptops. They are about 10 yrs old now and I can still get pretty much every part for one still. Used, but still available.

You can always get extended warranty toward the end of your current one. They don't advertise it that much as they like to try to get it at the time of sale. However you can usually extend your warranty out if you choose.

Extending after the purchase will be much more expensive. How much more depends on the rep, usually it is double the price.

I have extended my warranty twice now at the end of the first year. Not only did i pay the same price as I would have during purchase, but I also got a 75 dollar gift card both times.

    It depends on luck.
There is more info in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ranty-discussion-thread-questions-only-9.html

I did not buy 4 years warranty from the start. I extended my warranty 1 month after my purchase to 4 years. I got quite a number of quotes, some were extremely high.

If I want to extend my warranty only for 1 year, it's approx 500$ on the website. I don't think it's a big deal.
