    Hey.

    First of all some specs:

    Intel 4900mq
    770m Nvidia SLI
    515gb mssd + 750GB HDD
    16 GB ram

Having an issue with the wifi card, or it might be the drivers here. Dell have been here to replace the wifi Broadcom card, but with no luck. So I'm asking for help here on the forums.

The issue: Random lag/spikes/ms jump in online server games(like bf3/4). I can go from perfect 15ms to 750ms etc in like a second. It happens random between 10-20 seconds. This not only shows in the ms part, also in the game with studder or lag'ish screen.

I've tried to disable other wifi electronics, as ps3 ++, in my home that might interfare, with no luck. I have tried to be in a clear sight of the internet modem, same room, and no luck. Tried to disable the bluethoot, no help there.
Swaped my modem, no luck. Open ports/Portforward for my games, no luck. No Firewall windows or modem, still no luck. Everyting else works perfect in my home, just not my AW18. Tried to re install drivers, no luck.

My question is: Are anyone else having the same issue, and if yes, have you fixed it? Btw: Cable works perfect.

I think it's a driver issue from Dell/Broadcom, I asked if i could swap it to the AW18x killer wifi, but no can do.

You might want to consider changing it to another brand, either Intel or Killer. I changed my WiFi card with the Killer-N 1202. Works well after that.

I agree with this, Dell Techs have told me they have compatibility issues with the Broadcom wireless AC with many consumer grade wireless routers. Thankfully you can pick up other wireless cards pretty cheap, but alas you shouldn't have to.

So, I'm not the only one? Glad to read it. I want to change the wifi card to killer or intel, but I think I loose the warranty if I change it myself.

You don't lose the warranty on the machine if you change the Wifi card. Of course the new wifi card won't be covered only warranty, but the other parts are still under warranty. The best way to fix the spikes is just replacing the wifi card, or just use LAN instead.

    OK will do.
I see you are using Win 8. Can things like that help? I mean, if the drivers are doing a better job. I'm using Win7 64 home. To me it seems to be a driver issue aswell.

The issues with the WIFI card, from what I have been told, are not a driver issue, the issues are related to a hardware incompatibility between the wireless chip and the router.

Ok, maybe I need to buy a new one then, and test it out. To bad I have VDSL in Norway, and ain't much VDSL modems to find. Maybe bridge it to a adsl router.

This fix posted somewhere else by another forum member (can't find or remeber te member) I made this change and it seemed to help a good bit:

Click on broadcom's network adapter - properties - advanced - scroll down to WMM and disable it.
