Sooo...anyone have any tips about new batteries? My old battery would get so hot that it overheated the laptop, I ordered a "New authentic" battery from eBay that worked fine--Up until the battery failed and was no longer recognized, upon disassembly I can see a melted spot where I presume circuitry would be. I was issued a refund but it leaves me sort of gun-shy.

Original battery just lost it's capacity to hold a charge, shutting off completely at 30% and only lasting maybe 5 minutes from 100% charge.

So, I cracked both apart, the "Authentic" is a fake, and eBay is pretty much completely filled up with strictly fakes. Anyone happen to know what full charge is on an AW18 battery? The 18650 cells in my authentic are reported as 4.35V high voltage, vs a normal 18650 4.2V

I also opened up my original battery, pulled the cells off and checked them individually, all show 4V, so maybe it was the circuitry that decided no more charging.

The fake battery I got blew a mosfet chip, I'm trying to think of why it would do that.
Is it possible to have just the battery circuitry fry on a motherboard?
Maybe it was just cheap... anyway, I ordered another battery that is also suppose-to be OEM, but this one has a blue and black label instead of grey and black.

This is why I always buy OEM batteries. Not worth the trouble for the aftermarket ones. Hopefully that one will run fine for you.

Honestly, these batteries are listed as OEM, but apparently Alienware 18 batteries are no longer manufactured, it's 100% Chinese junk 100% of the time, or they want $200 for a battery from France that I can't guarantee is an actual authentic either.

Can anyone do a powercfg /batteryreport for me?

This is the one I just got in, but it's not the rated mAH that the original says it was (88,800mAH)

this "powercfg /batteryreport" or "powercfg -batteryreport" doesn't works on Win7, how can I evaluate it for you?
I'have 2 oem battery from my m18x r2 (one 35% dead and other one at only 4%)

Is Aida64 or HWiNFO64 screen helpful?

HWinfo64 still has battery info, so it would still be helpful! I'm showing 16.714V with 76,960Wh

Hmmm, Wh is off pretty badly on mine. I thought that maybe it was an M18X battery, but that kind of dispels that theory. Probably just another Chinese junk battery that I just got, sadly...

    My battery:

Up to 4 hrs of battery life (realistic, not with all the power saving BS) with iGPU only

Haven't tested Optimus mode on battery yet but probably around ~3 hrs.

New battery is indeed China trash. It won't even power the laptop, at 90% it dies because it doesn't have enough power to keep it going, or it draws too much power and trips a resetting circuit breaker.
