Hi everyone. As I have problems with English I would be hard for me to search through all the topics to find the resolution for my problem. Sorry in advance if my question will be repeating.

I have M18x R2 laptop. Recently, the videocard has burned (Nvidia 675m SLI), probably the incident has occurred because of the upgrade to Windows10. Can you advise me - is it better to buy the same videocard (Nvidia 675m SLI) or to replace it with a newer version? Would there be problems if I install a newer videocard? Do I have to reflash something before the installation to avoid problems? And could you, please, advise the most stable videocard which is suitable to my laptop?

No. As there was smoke from the area where videocard is placed, I guess it's the videocard which has burned.

    Wow, Okay.

It's better to replace it with some newer model unless you find older one very cheap. Popular choice is 780M now. 880M is known to have some problems related to throttling but I didn't experienced them. 980M is known to work bad in M18xR2 but it may changed now, I didn't follow as I have 880M. Maybe @Mr. Fox will tell you more about 980M .

As 675M is just renamed 580M you will have big performance boost if you use 780M

    Ensure that you have 100W GPU heatsinks before installing 100W GPU (780 = 100W, 880M = 107+W)

Also remember to remove win10 BEFORE installing new gpu.

The 780M SLi is a popular choice. The 880M, if a few issues can be circumvented, can be decent, but 780M is seen as the most stable and reliable option for the R2.

As I understand it, 980M SLi does work on the R2, but from what's been discussed, it doesn't overclock without throttling. Having that said, in absolute GPU output terms, even a stock 980M absolutely exceeds some of the most generously overclocked 780M/880M configurations.

Thank you guys for the answers. I have another question: what is more powerful - one 780/880 videocard or 675 sli? I could buy one 780/880 videocard now, and then buy the second in addition to complete sli. And should I buy a heatsink?
You wrote: "Ensure that you have 100W GPU heatsinks before installing 100W GPU (780 = 100W, 880M = 107+W)". How can I find out that my current heatsink is suitable for 780/880 videocards?
If 675 videocard is 100W - does it mean that my current heatsink is ok for 780/880?

GodlikeRU, Are you from Russia? If yes is it possible to talk to you privately via some messenger/email? I have a lot of questions, but conversation on forum is inconvenient and slow... I'd like to resolve all my problems before the Black Friday, if you know what I mean :)
