Got m14x in December, and recently tried to install an SSD. SSD had problems so I decided to reswap the drives. Put back my HDD,and put in my Windows 64bit premium disc I was given to see if there was a way to install the os indirectly onto the SSD. Ended up pressing update Windows 7 button and let it finish updating since the progress screen said stopping could cause perm damage. Came back after 2 hours and saw the screen was on and error page saying Windows did not start properly after restarting a few times and trying to repair I did a clean install of Windows and tried to restore comp back to factory image, but the button for that feature was unclickable. I hadn't made a spare factory image because i didn't anticipate having my computer image disappearing.
To make things worse the resource cd I was given has no usable drivers to make my WiFi work (WiFi is my only source of internet) so I am unable to get online with ny computer.
Any advice or help? I know this is probably too much info but I just want to get my computer back to factory image at the very least.

    I can see why your laptop's having problem - NvidiaGT 555M 3 MB, 4 MB 1600 RAM. :D

Anyway joking aside, if your WiFi is the only source of internet then how can you came here and create a thread? Since you can access the internet then here is the link to Dell Driver & Download website for the WiFi driver, the WiFi driver will be list under "Network".

Yes I get the problem with my ram,but my original plan was to get 4x2 ram sticks to save money from buying dell sticks.
I'm using my smartphone to post. I can download drivers online but del support only offers the drivers found on my resource disc.
Does anyone know if dell will send me factory image disc of I request or buy?
That seems to be the only choice at the moment

I guess that possible if your laptop is still under the warranty, you can try call them and request for a replacement for the Resource DVD. Btw what is the model of the WiFi card on your M14x?

when you did a clean install, did you by any chance delete the recovery partition? its roughly around 20GB....if you didn't , chances are you can set your system back to factory settings.
Even if you dont have drivers, windows default should be working with your wifi card.try installing OSD application from the resource dvd. then press Fn+F3 to make sure wifi is enabled.
If it is enabled and you stil cant have the wifi card to work, open device manager, go to your wifi card right click and update driver. for source, select your dvd rom. i hope that works!

and for image to work, you need to download alien respawn software. since you re installed windows, you probably lost this software.so first get your wifi working, and then download the software to make a restore disc and to factory restore your system.

Believe I have WiMAX 6250,tried all the drivers available under network of my resource disc but to no avail.
My alienrespawn software exists, but I just doesn't have the factory image feature available. I think the factory image might have disappeared when I tried to install update Windows 7(my original issue as you recall) I didn't even have any restore points that are usually set when the automatic updates are made

how can you have alien respawn if you did a fresh install? its not there on the windows 7 disc . Can you explain in a bit more precise manner about what happened and what you did? I know you already did that once but i see inconsistencies there. just wanna get my facts straight.
