Are you talking about the small white clip to where the ribbon from the optical drive goes in, then to release/secure the ribbon?

If so, if it just fell out from where it sits try using tweezers to carefully put it so its sits there a little bit snug so the ribbon stays.

If you mean physically has snapped off beyond repair then I'm not sure how to proceed from there...So have you tried putting the ribbon in and closing up the laptop and booting it and seeing if the drive shows up?

Yeah agreed probably not the best idea to glue it. May be someone else will know if you can get one from basically any other laptop if size or w.e is different.

oooook rang dell which was a mistake apprently the white plastic bit is part of the motherboard (its not) and they want £500 for a new board and for someone to come and fit one i do believe a better option is for them to come and suck my balls in all honesty

Did you ever find a suitable replacement? I broke a leg off of mine, it still works and clips in but i wouldn't mind getting my hand on a spare if for any reason i need to take it out

Can you snap a picture of what you're referring to? Are you still under warranty?
