The dvd in question contains the m14x drivers and dell / alienware applications should you ever reinstall :)

If by backing up, you are talking about the respawn app, it allows you to restore the m14x back to factory state with OS and apps all in place.

This probably takes 15 mins, where as reinstalling the os from scratch, then installing apps and losing the alienware customisations................. will take a good deal longer.

well the dvd's have all the drivers and the OS on them for when and if you do a fresh windows install. The purpose of the back up DVD or flash drive is so that you have a copy of your system at its factory state bc once you do a fresh install, alienrespawn goes away along with the factory image...and tehre is no way retrieve it without a backup.....so i suggest you make a backup, it takes like 20 min

it takes a little bitamount of time, yes, but you can do other things while it is doing its operation. go on facebook or something

Its worth it, especially if something goes wrong. pop in the flash drive and your good to go
