i haven't had any problems with my m14x, only the dust between the screen and the plastic cover (and broke the plastic cover trying to get it off :s (see pics)
    the paint coat coming off.

question is,what if i don't have the original hdd that came with my m14x,( i buy it from HIDevolution and got the momentus xt drive (i didn't know it wouldn't come with the original hdd) ) and need to send it to dell for any reason?

    a) do i send it without hdd
    b) send it with any hdd i find,
    c) send it with the momentus xt drive.

Once I sent in my old Sony VPCCW laptop in for repair just like you. I don't know about Dell but I took out my hard drive cause I'm a security freak and told them that I took it out. They just wrote down that Hard Drive was removed and didn't have any problems. So it shouldn't really matter, just ask Dell.

that is a good idea. i also made the mistake of buying from hidevolution....

Ted Kim (incompetent) had me send in the laptop so that he could put back in the components he "upgraded." He proceeded to keep the laptop for 2 months before I got it back. When I got it back the laptop had the wrong screen and he forgot to send the charger (which he still hasn't sent).

Moreover, there was no repaste on the repaired product.
