Hello, my alienware m14x finally arrived yesterday after a week and so far i am loving it but i am having a small issue with the touchpad. I've tried to search this forum and all over the internet but it seems like i am the only who have this issue (lucky me!) Anyway, there seems to be a pretty big "deadzone" in the upper middle area of the touchpad about the size of half my thumb. I tried to update the driver, uninstall/reinstall the driver with no luck. I'm starting to think it's probably hardware related. Anyone else have any suggestion for a fix or do i have to return the product? I can pretty much live with it since i almost always use a mouse anyway but for a $1200 machine i kinda wanted it be working right. thanks in advance

A possible scenario is that your touchpad cable is loose inside the computer (under the keyboard). Its kind of a pain to get to but if you want to try, the instructions are here:
Documentation
Basically you want to follow the "Removing the Palm-rest Assembly" instructions from steps 1 to 7 and then check the touchpad cable is seating tightly (its a super-thin cable held in by a plastic connector latch...). Otherwise, you can call up Dell and they'll probably send a tech next day with parts to replace for you. Good luck!
