    Hello,
A friend recently gave me his old M14X as he no longer had any use for it. He told me that the battery was dead and would no longer charge. He also told me that he actually replaced the battery, but that it still would not work/charge.

Anyone know how I can go about testing the battery to see if it is dead or if the issue lies with the laptop itself?

    Thanks

P.S. I have done a complete tear down of the system in order to do a re-paste (holy hell did it ever need it) and I verified the connection for the battery is looking normal with no visible issues

Either the issue is with the motherboard, or the replacement, which I assume he didn't buy directly from Dell, was a lemon. In any case, you likely won't be able to repair it on your own unless you are experienced with board repair and have a soldering setup. If you really want to have it fixed, the best way is to look at third-party repair centres such as the one run by @pbhenry3 or send it to Dell and pay whatever replacement costs there are.

I figured as much. I guess I will just live with it. Got the machine for free and I'm not about to put money into it when I can upgrade my M15X instead.
    Thanks for reply!
