well, although it's not working just only light are on when bushing the button! and now I need a suggestion to make it work!

the story is my aunt is kinda have anger issue and while she's in the way to cali she saw someone gaming in inside the airplane in te middle of flight! she told the previous owner to turn it off, and the owner refused! she was frightened of how wireless devices could screw the communication of pilots and other stuff! immedietly brought a cup of water and spilled it all over the laptop! she ended up paying the price of the laptop!

"you know this stuff boy! YOU take it!" she said although I offered her a free fix and give it to her boy!

so, any idea how to fix this any other way than dell?

If that was me gaming I'd have been put in jail.... More than likely, it needs a mobo... You could check the service tag and see if it had accidental on it...........

wow I never thought this thread was published! I accidentally closed the browser! maybe I should stop using internet explorer, lol! I need to modify this.

anyway it's highly unlikly that it has accidental damage warranty, otherwise I wouldn't have the laptop in the first place!

and.... just checked in the website, 1yr standard warranty!

If it turns out that it can't get back working, I think that you could gut it and take out some RAM, the HDD, the wireless card, and CPU and keep it for yourself or sell it for a few bucks...

Yeah I dont care if your aunt was 100 years old, I wouldve been pressing charges if she did that to my baby. When you turn it on does it still make a look "boop" noise?

IDK if it can get fixed without substantial costs. She was really ignorant to do that to a computer because he was probably not using any wireless connectivity options. I guess it was just uncommon for her to see someone gaming on a plane. Its even on the allowed list of devices. Well anyway it most likely shorted out, since it was on. Mobo should be completely fried, but individual components might work.

Your grandmother had no right to do that and could have been arrested and sued. But unfortunately, nothing you nor Dell can do.

Plane communications don't run on Wireless signals anyway, possibly 5Ghz but nothing on normal N levels.

Youd probably need to gut it which would cost more than the laptop yourself. Id save your money and tell your Aunt she made a big mistake by invading other peoples lives/privacy and ruining their things. Even if she was really worried about the plane she could have asked/told a flight attendant, which would have either informed her that it was okay or really made the guy turn it off. Would have been a slight inconvenience for him but he wouldnt have to be ordering a new laptop right now.

Now Im just waiting for some guy to post on here a thread about some lady pouring water all over his M14x on a plane trip lol.

i would test the other parts on another laptop before buying and using it. you don't wanna buy it then realize that you might need to replace the hard drive, optical drive or something else.

i guess you can try some basic tests like reconnecting battery again. or if you are bold enough- just follow the tear down guide, disconnect the BIOS battery and connect it again.
