    rattling noise before fan turns on

    I received my m14x last thursday and i love this computer, it blows my 5 year old hp dv6000 out the water. but sometimes before the fan turns on i hear a rattling sound. I figure thats the sound of the fan starting up. does anyone else have this problem? is it indicative of a defective fan?

    I often get a high pitch fluttery sort of noise when the fan spins up (maybe when posting, can't remember). I think it's just where the fan isn't operating in its optimal rpm for a second so it sounds kinda weird.

    That's what mine sounds like, well actually I think it sounds like the Predetor making clicking sounds. I thought it was planned, because it sounds like it is coming from the speakers (pretty sure I heard it when using headphones). Mine is exactly/real close to the clicking sounds here

    Whoa, yours sound pretty loud though, I got this weird sound too, but it just like a little clicking sound similar to when there's a disc inside and when you try accessing it, it would give a sound of click-click, and the fan come up. But it sound much much, softer.

    sounds odd, mine never makes a rattling noise, it starts very smoothly and accelerates smoothly without any noise except its fan speed

    ehh...not a pretty thought, but...might the fan blades be rubbing against something?
