Hello everyone. I'm new here but I've been reading posts about the m14x for a while. I just received mine yesterday, and bitter sweet it was. When I went to turn it on for the first time.. I got no response. No lights no nothing. I assumed the battery was dead. Plugged it in and again powered it on. This time it worked, strangely enough was that once it was booted up I noticed my battery was at 50 . So I thought it was odd why it didn't start at first. Turns out I come to find that if my computer is completely shut off, it will not turn on without being plugged in first, and it was an out of the box issue. Once it is on I can unplug it and it will run on the battery fine. It will even sleep and still come back with battery power. But once I shut it down, its like the battery doesn't even exist until I plug it in to get it booted again. Checked the lights at the bottom and it shows a full battery. Any idea what this could be or what i can do ? I was on with tech support last night and they wanted me to open the unit up but I didn't have my screw driver so I couldnt and I have to call back today. I shouldn't have to open it on the first day of a brand new unit. So should I ask for compensation even if tech support can solve it for me tomorrow ? Or just demand a new unit ? Any idea what this could be ?

    Thanks a lot guys.

I found getting a new unit a bit of a ball ache, in principal if it turns up faulty I'd insist on a new unit but you will have to wait as I am doing.

These are supposedly tested before dispatch. I do think it is somewhat shameless to expect a repair or being encouraged to open the unit up within the first week of ownership.

This is not a beta trial lol

If I was you, I would demand a replacement. I'm half tempted to do it myself for my faulty webcam....

Ya, you are still still under 21 day return period. Return it and demand them to build a new one asap. I would not buy this laptop because a lot of folks around here are having a shutdown issue while on battery. I mean a laptop is supposed to run on battery ain't it?

What was wrong with your units ? And yeah I'm having to open this Damn thing on the first day ..that's not cool. I want some type of compensation for this though it should be near flawless the first day. Even if i can fix it today I want to ask for something like ultimate 64 or something. But I'm thinking I'd only get something like that if I demanded a new unit and cried about the crappy service threatening to cancel rhe order then if I was to fix it. How long is your replacement unit going to take ?

The issue isn't running the laptop on battery, it does that just fine. The problem is gaming at peak performance while on battery, which will only happen if you go into the Command Center and set the computer settings when on battery mode. As-is, the computer will game just fine on battery.

Damn all these people having issues with their units and I have yet to experience any of these problems and for those who have a blue flicker with the webcam its not a hardware problem, you just have to adjust the white balance settings in advanced options. You could use skype to change the setting :D
