3)what should i be aware of or take note?
4)should i always plug in the charger or leave it unplugged for better battery maintenance?

    and the most important is

A lot of these answers depend on what you will be using the laptop for. Assuming it's mainly gaming and light tasks,

    1) The base model is excellent, I'd just go with a 1600x900 screen for any M14x. CPU, GPU, etc. are all sufficient. If you'll be doing video editing often get a quad core, the base quad core would do
    2) Reinstall Windows, then install Command Center. Don't install any other Dell/Alienware software
    3) Laptop is on the heavy and large side for a 14". Also note that the lights are cool and the machine is powerful
    4) If you're gonna leave it plugged in, disable battery charging in BIOS. Also drain the battery monthly or so.
    5) Neither. I just do Complete PC Backup (Windows 7 feature) onto an external hard drive and restore from there if anything fails.

Update your nvidia gpu, make sure your bios is the A05 version, have fun with the alienfx, check for defects if any, test the battery after a full charge, and most important, start gaming.
