    specs:
    Model: M14x R2
    CPU: Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.30GHz
    GPU1: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
    GPU2: Intel HD Graphics 4000
    RAM: 8GB
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

I have had this beast of a computer for about 3-4 weeks now, and I have noticed that benchmarks on youtube get much better performance than what I get. take for example this video:
GTA IV Gameplay on Alienware M14x R2 - (With Graphic Mods) - YouTube
The description states that the Framerate hangs around 30-40, while recording, settings maxed out.
My rig can handle GTA on medium-high settings hanging around 15-25 FPS, highest priority, tweaked to hell in the NVIDIA control panel, overclocked by 15%, and with every command in the launch options that I can find. And while I understand it isn't a very well optimized game, I don't understand why it singles my computer out among the others.
I also notice that in some other games such as battlefield 3, I get around 25-30 fps while the benchmarks on youtube get around 30-40 FPS.

Some theories on why this happens:
    >I bought this laptop used from a bunch of potheads who didn't know how to handle a computer. they didn't do much on this computer, and (hopefully) I managed to find and delete all of their files. Sadly they forgot to include a windows disk for it, so reinstalling windows is out of the question
    >This laptop came with a ton of fancy software, some of it seems unnecessary, but I don't really want to risk removing some of it.
    >The battery for this laptop does not work, and I am forced to keep it plugged in at all times. The BIOS detects it as a foreign battery, even though I know for a fact that this is the right battery. I know that when this model is running on battery power it switches to the crapbasket intel GPU, and I have grown to suspect it may be running on a similar power plan.

What I have done to fix this:
    >googled for many hours for fixes
    >set all of my games to the High Performance GPU in the nvidia control panel
    >tweaked games for hours on end
    >overclocked the GPU+memory and set the processor to turbo boost mode
    >set my games to high priority + affinity in task manager
    >yelled at inatimate objects

Please help, I have no idea what to do :C

EDIT: some things I forgot to mention
The game hangs around 20fps on ALL settings. whether it's high or low, the fps is the same
All of my drivers are up to date

Did you notice in the title of that video it says, "(With graphics mods)"? He may have used a modded vBIOS for the 650M.

true, but the second video is just the game itself, no mods.

Make sure your 650M isn't overheating grab some canned air and spray out the vents or maybe even take the back off and clear out the vents with a few quick sprays. The 650M throttles it self at 65c, so it might be a good idea to keep an eye on the temperatures while you are gaming.

You might want to make sure that battery is plugged in, you need to open the bottom access panel of the computer to do this.
Go in to the BIOS and make sure turbo is enabled and the CPU multiplier is set to AUTO and not slower than necessary. Make sure steedstep is enabled (otherwise the CPU runs at lowest clocks all the time).
You could also try resetting the BIOS to default settings, which should be fine.
    Clean out the fan openings.

I have the bios modded on my m14x R2 and it makes a very big difference, about 50% better performance. If you're comfortable with the very real possibility that you may brick your notebook you can get a copy of the BIOS hack here (I am in no way affiliated with this site): M14x R2 VBIOS MOD
