So I just got my AW 14 yesterday and began to salvage parts from my now dead G46vw.

I have tried to install Windows 8 onto the mSATA SSD by several methods none have worked so far

-i tried my home burnt recovery discs to recover straight to the SSD but it tells me it cant install to a drive smaller than 698gb
-i tried to clone it to a usb 2.0 adapter with EasaUS and Acronis and failed with both
-i did get it to clone while it was installed inside the laptop i disconnected the factory drive and choose to boot from the Crucial 240gb (which i cloned too) but on boot it took me to a blue screen saying the drive needed to be recovered
-i tried a few more times by playing with boot settings (as many as i felt comfortable with quick secure legacy) but still couldn't.

Dose any one have an idea as to what i might be missing or overlooking? i figure the easiest method since i have no vital data would be a work around for the 698gb message if anyone knows one?

I would say clone it whilst it is connected inside the laptop but you will need to use the latest version of acronis as the older versions are not compatible with windows 8. I don't think there is any workaround to the space limit message.

Have you tried a clean Windows install?
