I am having a problem with my samsung 830 SSD or my M14xR2. The SSD did not come with my computer. I am having a problem that slows down my computer a lot and it is getting me irritated. I even had dell replace my computer since when I did an alien autopsy test it came back as a RTC accuracy test fail. But the problem comes and goes, If I boot up into safe mode and exit it acts just fine. But if i just boot up it goes back to being slow and making video playback not playable.

I even RMA'ed the SSD and got a new one and still the same problem
I even had dell send me another m14x r2 and same problem.

I did do a clean install to the drive, I do have BIOS A03 and have it changed to AHCI.

Here is a video explaining my problem a little better. As you guys can see the max/min animations lag and makes videos not playable.

    things I have tried
    Re-install clean copy of W7
    re-install chipset driver/video drivers

can anybody help me with this it is driving me crazy, oh and when i use a normal hdd the comp works just fine.

I also had the slow Windows animations upon a fresh install, until I did a Windows Update and it downloaded a driver for the Intel card. Seemed to do the trick for me.

i suffered through this for a month. I tried EVERYTHING. it seemed to go away and come back randomly. what fixed it for me was in BIOS set it to RAID instead of ahci. raid has all ahci features but youll need to reinstall windows after though. now i haven't gotten it since then.

did you have the exact same problem as I show in the video?

Ill give it a try later on, since I am tired of doing clean installs, have done about 10 in the past 2 weeks. Right now i am just using the hdd that came with computer

yes, it was the exact problem. slow animations, slow loading to windows after the "welcome" message, etc. Setting bios to raid fixes this. and it wont set up two hard drives unless you want it that way. raid will behave the same way ahci does.

As eats7 recommends I would do a clean install of the O.S in RAID so that the SSD works better. Sometimes there are issues between the SSD and the AHCI mode. Here is a link for you to get all the drivers and an accurate guide on how to install Windows on our systems.

I installed the Samsung 830 128gb on m14x r1 few days ago and it has been working like a dream. What I did was:

    Install win 7
Install all recommended drivers accordly (check device manager)
Do not install intel rapid storage technology
    Using A05 bios

i have a killer wireless card, but no McAfee, I have not been able to test it out again with a ssd, since i returned it and havent bought one yet, waiting for another deal to happen to buy it again.

Ever since I installed the normal HDD, it has only done it twice, a quick restart fixes it and I have not seen it happen again.\

Ive ran test and everything and it checks out ok.

Ive ran a PCmark7 benchmark and I get anywhere from 2800-2950 as a score. Does that sound normal. I will post a link to my results later.
