I just ordered the m14x r2 and it is in production. I just recently found that aleinware normally upgrades their machines annually around june. Should I return it as soon as it comes(Refuse shipment) and wait to buy the r3? Or should i just use it since it has kepler architecture? thanks

Depends entirely on the price discrepancy. You'd likely have to pay $200 extra for 10-15% performance boost with the r3, it's up to you.

You mean the m14x r3 will sell at a higher price point?

Hey guys, how do you know the R3 will sell at a higher price point? Is there any information (or rumors) regarding that? Or has the R2 undergone a price cut recently?

The r2 is $200-$250 cheaper now than when it was first released. I believe the price cut happens incrementally as I didn't really notice until I realised how cheap the r2 had become.

It's all based on speculation and previous experience. No one has that info until the release date.

Prices decrease to get rid of systems because new tech is replacing them. Happens with everything, eventually. Depreciation is inevitable in the tech world. Right now is probably the best time to buy a system because they need to sell them, but of course the downside to making a purchase now is that your system will be out of date within a few months, however, you'll have saved a few hundred dollars in the process - up to you to decide if its worth it.

I guarantee when the R3 comes out, getting the deals we see now will be unlikely. And by this time next year it will be cheaper once again. A vicious cycle! :D
