Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the r1 will support 16gb ram? I can't seem to find consistent answers. Also, can anyone recommend which sticks I should buy? I run a lot of VM's for work, probably 3-4 of them...any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks a lot.

Our technical specifications state that only the 8GB config. is supported however as smokeydogsmokey states it might work fine.

@Smokey, What brand and speed of memory are you using on your system?

Just make sure you need that much ram. I never used more than 6gb of ram on my machine while running 2 EVE online clients with firefox open with 10+ tabs.

I used to believe this too, but Windows does use extra RAM for caching, either by keeping previously used data that is not required anymore, or by loading up frequently accessed data in advance (OS files and programs you use often). With some luck, some of it will be re-used which will improve performance.

Also if you get more RAM you'll be able to turn off the page file which will increase the speed of the system or just manually set it down to somewhere around 2GB to gain disk space.

I have 8GB of RAM, and whenever I start hitting more than 20 tabs on Chrome I am close to hitting the insufficient memory dialog box... funny thing is that once I see that dialog, all my tabs crash. Something crashes.
