I didn't see this asked and was curious, so here goes. When setting up the specs for my m14x, the graphics card section mentioned 3d gaming. My question is, does the display for the m14x allow for 3d gaming? Is it compliant? I know the m17x is and they mention that on the page.

Honestly this is not like a huge point, just wondering if when i put a blue ray reader in if I would finally get to check put the 3d blue ray disks that came with my 2d blue rays. Obviously I would have to pick up the nvidia 3d kit, just wanted to know if that was possible.

No. nVidia 3D requires a 120Hz monitor, and a 120Hz internal notebook screen is very rare. (Some laptops like the M17x have an option for one, so that's why it's 3D compatible)

You CAN do 3D but you need an external 120Hz monitor, and an nVidia 3D Vision kit.

So i am going to buy a 3D monitor at some point for use with the M14x but i just want to ask you guys some questions first...

Now obviously the bigger the screen the more resolution you need which as a result will slow down games, so what size monitor and resolution would you recommend to use ?

I dont know if it will matter or not but i will have the 2720 processor inside with 6 GB RAM

I was thinking around the 22 inch kinda size because i think m14x could still play games on that size and it would be big enough to experience the 3D thrill

    I have a 120Hz TV but it is not a 3D TV

Would I be able to see 3D on it using it as an external for the M14x ?

Does your TV support HDMI 1.4a input. There are many 120Hz TV's that cannot handle the 120Hz input. My old Sony 60A3000 was like this. The 120 Hz is usefull for several Video aspects that go in a very different direction from this thread. You can probably find a discussion of the 3D capability of your TV at avsforum.

Is the wireless HD thingy compatible with 3D Vision? Since it is not offered in UK I have not research about the device at all.
Thinking about getting a 3D vision compatible projector like optoma GT720, Gt555m should be more than enough to handle blurays in 3D.

Actually, pretty much every 3D ready monitor you buy will be 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. I haven't seen any that aren't; you might find higher resolutions, but not lower.

And you will have to sacrifice quite a few graphics settings to get it running in 3D at 1080p. Might even have to run some games in low, if not medium.

Physical size doesn't matter as long as resolution is the same. 41'' will get same fps as 21'' if both are 1080p.

3D more or less reduce fps by 1/2. Most recent nvidia cards support 3D to a 3D capable screen. You probably have to reduce quality to medium/low for an acceptable 3D fps(30+ for me) for newer games like crysis 2, with an OCed 555m and 1080p.
