Just received my 14 r2 back from my friends who needed to borrow it while their lappy was being replaced. Noticed that I have to boot with f1 due to battery failure, also getting a "cant charge due to power supply registration" error as well on startup.

    1) still under warranty (extended premium) but AW was extremely rude and unhelpful over the phone before disconnecting with me
    2) when I purchased the warranty, the rep explained battery would be covered (but later would find out that its not)
    3) doing an autopsy test on the battery shows its bad. But should I try and request a replacement power supply?
    4) Where is the best place to order a replacement battery from (amazon ~ 70-90 usd, dell ~ 206 usd)

    Thanks

Had to contact customer service again this morning due to power supply failure and cpu thermal throttling at 50 degrees not being able to achieve above 1.2 ghz. After remote connecting and diagnosis they are now sending a tech out with a replacement battery. New fans. New heat block. And repasting the CPU with my IC diamond paste. Could not be happier this time around.

I'm glad to know that help is on the way. Let us know how the replacement goes through here.

tech failed to make a call during the window.

Support called to inform me the battery is out of stock (though I seem to be able to order it online?)

Reset a new appointment time and I have to have my own battery for them to be able to complete the work. So I have a battery on hand that I bought as a backup, as well as some IC Diamond paste for them to use when they replace the heatsink and fans.

So - minus a few points Dell. . . but I'm still hoping to be happy.

    *update*

Tech arrived with a new fan and heat sink. We used my IC Diamond Thermal Paste, and after a full disassembly, replaced the fan / heat sink / battery (one I had to purchase from an external source) and paste. Pre-fix the battery was no longer functional, and the CPU thermal throttled at 100% when running, and reached 95+ degrees during a stress test after 1 minute. Now, after a 10 minute stress test, with a 103 core clock OC - max temps were around 81 C with no issues in site.
