    Good evening.

Could someone please give me an advice what is the difference between HD 1366x768 and HD+ 1600x900? I bought the laptop and I'm supposed to have HD 1600x900 but apparently its only the 1366x768 screen and I'm not sure now if I should in my 7 day money return warranty try to resolve it or if its fine to keep the laptop anyway. I'm using external 24" screen so it would affect me only if I travel. But comparing to my old M15x screen seem have strange colours. Black isn't really black but kind of grey...Doesn't look great really.

    What do you think?

    Thank you very much

if its not that what you have ordered, then its not that what u paid for.

call dell and let them give the right model!

i guess its not 7 but 21 day return policy. And yes, dont compromise on it. you paid for the display so there is no way you should let this one go.
just call them and tell them of their goof up.be angry.shout. :D
and also ask for some freebie for all this hassle.
but before this, confirm the display resolution on your order reciept. if its same, maybe they got the order wrong. but either ways, you have 21 days to return it.

Thing is it wasn't bought directly from Dell, but from reseller on ebay and I have good spec and 3 years warranty for around 400£ cheaper then from dell, so thats why I'm thinking if its worth sending it back and getting money or rather stick with the screen. 400£ is 400£ :)

So is there big difference in the screen?

The two reasons you might want to keep the 1366x768 are if you do not like the smaller text that is common with the 1600x900 resolution, or if you want to run your games at the lower native resolution (this means that some demanding games run better at lower resolutions, and if 1366x768 is your native resolution then it will look better than if you have the 1600x900 resolution and then manually set your display to 1366x768 as a non-native resolution).

I have the 1600x900 and it definitely is a good idea for working with microsoft word or excel spreadsheets or general browsing, IF you can handle smaller text. Gaming has not been an issue yet and games do not like terrible if I lower the resolution to non-native.

If you paid more for the laptop than you could have if you knew it was 1366x768 then obviously do something, otherwise think about those choices and decide.

One more thing I will add is that the m14x has a really, REALLY low color gamut display -- there are 600 dollar computers which can display more colors. So that could be why you are thinking the colors are strange. It really is unacceptable that they would put such a bad display but theres really nothing to do about it that I can think of. Some people seem to think the 1600x900 is SLIGHTLY brighter but other than that nothing to do really.

Those things wouldn't bother me as 90% of time I'm working with external screen. Only think I'm curious about is if the quality of display is different or if its only the resolution difference. I have contacted the seller already and asked him if he can get me laptop with the 900p screen, so will see what he say.

900p is whole lot different then your current res. text is much more crisp and you get more work area on laptop. and since you clearly ordered 900p the reseller will get you that and dont worry about warranty. if that was included in the order, its gonna be there even after replacement.

but at the end of the day, it comes down to your preference and situation with reseller.

Contact the seller, if it's not what you ordered you can dispute it through ebay. Remember, ebay and paypal protects buyers more so than sellers. But if you're happy with your m14x, it's a minor loss. Yes I love my 1600x900 screen. Text is crisp, nice clarity, but you tend to get lost in the smaller view of things. Your eyes have to travel further, like in a browser. Lots of empty space on the sides. You will play games a lot better in the lower resolution though. I usually lower mine to 1366x768 on demanding games to gain fps.

1366x768 is an ideal resolution for 12-14 inch laptops. 900p is nice, but kinda pushing it. You will get better pixel density with 900p. So you won't see pixelated text or images as much.
