So I've seen many posts on how to clean out the fans and grills for the Alienware laptops an the m14x is pretty much identical to the m15x as far as the steps to take to clean the fans.

My question is (and this also goes for the m11xR2) the m14x has this nice soft texture for the palm rest and for the exterior case, how do you clean it? The exterior case is a little smoother than the palm rest, but still has that nice softness to it. The keyboard, palmrest, and exterior case is like a sponge for hand oil. No matter how clean your hands are, unless you're wearing gloves, eventually your palm starts to leave a bit of residue, your keyboard "remembers" where your fingers have been resting, and the exterior shows how you've been holding it.

How do I clean this stuff so it's "good as new again"?

I've tried a microfiber cloth, slightly damp with dish soap. Cleaning cloths. Lint free cloths etc. nothing gets it "perfectly clean" (I've used the cleaning stuff on my m11xR2, same texture)

My m14x is still new, not showing anything yet, but I'd like to get into the habit of cleaning it! =) Any advice out there?

It is piece of electrical stuff, chemical and moist are never good to these things.
Try not to get it dirty in the first place.

I just get some floating dusts during usage and can easily spray off using compressed bottled air.

Wet and computers don't go well together, but similar to screen cleaners, a bit of moisture is needed to clean, just spray the cloth, not the screen. Just don't get it into the electrical components. The palmrest and the exterior shell really should be safe for cleaning with "moist" towels...I've had little to no success on getting the oil out of the palm rests...

Read through the NBR articles on cleaning your laptop, and the big recommendation is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I'll have to give that a whirl.
