Hi I need some help with this problem that i'm facing with the wireless on the m14x and would appreciate any help. The wireless works perfectly for a period of time and then it would suddenly not connect to the internet even though it doesn't indicate any problem with the wireless. The problem is only solved by restarting the computer and it works fine again, until it stops and the cycle repeats. I have the m14x with the Intel Wireless 1000 BGN and it seems to only effect my laptop because of the fact that my little brother's laptop stays connected. Is it the wireless card itself that is causing the problem or is it something else?

i'm having this problem too randomly. Only by resetting the wireless network then it'll work. Not sure what's the problem.
    Hope someone can help

Try pressing FN+F2 or whichever is the wireless control (don't have it in front of me) and then unchecking Wifi, hitting OK and then turning it back on.

Worked for me once when my wifi wasn't connecting

If you want, try a better card, the intel 1000 isn't that great of a card. The upgrade is cheap and easy. For an intel 6205 it's probably under 30 bucks. And for a Killer 1102 it's 45. Replacing is as easy as adding ram, only difference is you have to connnect the two antenna wires, not hard at all, it should take 5 minutes or less.

I had the 1000 card when I got my m14x and upgraded to the 6205 for $24 shipped from Excalibur PC and it's WAY better. Some people have had problems with the 6205 but I really think Dell got a bad batch or something because mine works awesome, never any drops or lagging and I've looked around online and any other laptop with it has only good things to say about it.

Alright I'll look into upgrading the wireless card. Do you know which websites I could buy the 6205 or Killer 1102?

Personally I don't think so. Like I said people have had problems with 6205's from Dell but I got the one from the link and it's worked great for me (WAY better than the intel 1000). I can't really speak for the Killer because I've never tried it but I've never read anything that actually proved it's better. I think Dell got a bad batch of 6205's or something IMO.

It seems to be better to just go with the 6205 since its half the price of the 1102 and has the same specs. Thanks for the help man!

I added to your rep :)

I have the same issues... With a little more problems. I got the 1000 bgn and received my m14x about 2 weeks ago. Aside from it taking forever to connect to wireless after waking from sleep, I can't connect to the wireless at my school in my classroom where I'm currently taking a class. It's weird - I see the network, it has great signal, but just never will connect and says limited connectivity. The funny thing is that my m1210 works perfectly fine, along with the other 10 students in the class - they all can connect to the network... As with my m1210. I updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, played with power settings for the wireless, but nothing helped. I think it's something with overlapping APs because there is one in each classroom.

I had contacted alienware support and the guy got me to go back to the Dell wireless drivers saying that they were optimized for alienware and I shouldn't use the latest ones on Intel's site (really?). He also adjusted the power settings and said that should do it. I of course was skeptical but couldn't test it until later that night when I was back at school. Nevertheless, it didn't work. I followed the instructions in the support ticket and forwarded it to alienware support for further assistance and never heard back from them (emailed last Thursday).

Instead, I just gave up and decided to order a killer 1102.. I'm expecting that to solve my issues... We will see :)

When I went from the 1000 to the 6205 I could see 2x as many networks from my house, my jaw literally dropped. I'd imagine the killer will be the same. Honestly I seriously recommend anyone who has the Intel 1000 to upgrade to either the 6205 or Killer because the Intel 1000 is horrible.

Yea I recently read on some threads that the intel cards were having some problem so most people just bought the killer wireless card and installed it themselves. They said it fixed the problem immediately so i think thats your best bet.
