so i tried running modern warfare 3 and the game is running poorly. Everything is at default and the game lags a lot.

Some parts of the game run fine. But theres a lot of times where the game lag will lag and stutter and the fps drops to a slideshow.

Ive whitelisted the game and set the power options to the highest. I dont know why yhis game struggles so much.

It happens in both single player and multiplayer.

I have the i5 cpu with 8gb of ram.

One other thing that scares me is that coretemps show 90-95 degrees when running this game. Its got me worried.

Have you try turn the Turbo Boost (found in the BIOS) off? It will help you reduce around 5C - 10C. I used to reach 99C on one core before I learn to turn the turbo boost off and now all cores never go above 80C.

my guess would be high temps -> throttling...
    plus check the settings...
MWF3 shouldnt be THAT fast on ultra...
    somewhere between 20-30...

Its probably running on the Intel GPU, or youre not plugged in. Check out the whitelisting guide in CGSDR's signature

Yeah you have low fps cause your cpu is getting hot, if it's above 90c then that's the problem.

What's funny is that this Laptop when I would set to "Balance" or "Performance" it would get super hot 93c 97c....then I would set it to "Power saver" it would stay in the 80s....with the same fps.

Mine runs perfectly fine with the latest COD, so here's a quick list of things to do:

    - Repaste (can lower temps up to 10c) <- This should be done once a year with high grade paste
    - Notebook Cooler (expect 5-7c lower temps give or take 2-3c depending on the cooler model)
    - Turbo Boost Off (BIOS)

I still have to find a cooler for myself. Last one I purchased was a piece of junk :p

Before you do any of that, buy a can of compressed air at your local staples for 5 bucks and blow out the fans. I did that and dropped my temps by 40 degrees, seriously. The fan takes in soooo much crap

    WOOWOWOWOOWWOOW

OMG....Is that all it took....big fail by me...bought a cooler, did everything.

I blew out my fans...a bunch of crap came out and now it's only at 54c no more than 70c, just amazing. The fans even shut off, that's how cool it is...

Just blow it on the vent on the back. Itll all go flying out the fan vent on the bottom

Sounds like your definitely having heat issues. I would do what many others have suggested and repaste the CPU and gpu and maybe even buy a cooler to get the temps down even more. If your still having problems after that, try the newer nvidia drivers(link below). It should help your performance at least a bit. ;)

What I did was remove the bottom lid or case, just 2 simple screws and push forward, after that I blew the air on the vent not the fan....And a bunch of bulks of dust came flying out the fan.

My room is always clean but 4 months of use does that.

ah i see. both you and gearsguy blew the air on the vent and not on the fan. that's good to know.
