I just got my m14x i7 2ghz, 6GB, 500gb 7200rpm, 1.5gb video for $830 shipped with 25% off coupon. I'm really anal about something when it's new so buying from the refurb store I really looked everything over immediately out of the box and am pretty satisfied with 2 imperfections that I would like to run buy owners of not refurbished.

    1. The left mouse button is slightly lower then the touchpad. The right button is more flush. This is not a show stopper but if it drops any more from use it will be annoying as in my opinion buttons should be slightly higher then the pad.

    2. Question for owners as this may be just the design. My screen seems to have a slight wiggle. It just seems to have more play in it without actually moving the hinge then my other laptops (Studio 14z and Lonovo T61p or w510). The best way to describe is if I attempt to lightly wiggle the screen on say the Studio 14z it moves the entire laptop base until it gives in and moves on the hinge where the m14x refurb I have more play back and forth WITHOUT it actually moving on the hinge. Is yours like this?

Other than these 2 things the system appears flawless and clean as brand new. I love the keyboard and touchpad. The reflective screen is annoying but I knew that going in :)

My buttons are flush with the mousepad at where they meet with it. Then they get higher because the buttons are angled upwards. As for the screen, if I just wiggle it, it'll move like half an inch either way of wiggle room. Not sure if that's what you meant or when I open or close it it lifts the whole laptop. It almost lifts up the whole laptop when I do that, but it doesn't.

Yeah sounds like my screen is on spec but my mouse buttons aren't. So is the refurb + coupon discount worth out of spec buttons? I'm leaning far to yes.

Not too bad but enough that you can feel it drop when running your finger across. It seems to have the same travel when pressed as the right one.

On the left edge my left button is a good 1mm lower than the pad, i dont like it very much, the right button is fine. I am considering having a poke around with the insides to see if there is something I can do about it. My M14 wasnt a refurb.

I took a closer look from the side on mine. I think it's more the pad going up on the left side. I gave it a good hard press down on the pad corner and it's a lot closer to flush now but not perfect. good enough to satisfy me though
