    im shopping for ram so i need to know
    and can it take desktop ram seems to be only kind of ram i can find

    nope. ram name themselves into desktop ram and notebook ram for a reason.
    newegg and crucial.com have loads of them at reasonable price

    It takes two pieces, and no it can't take desktop mem since they are diferent sizes and everything... On my post you replied there is a link for an opition for ram change, but you can find many of them avaible on amazon/newegg...

    You also need the highest processor to use the 1600mhz ram, any other CPU will underclock it to 1333mhz I believe

    i got the 2720 and it says on intels site it supports 1600 mhz

    I wonder why 16 GB isnt an option. I cant even find 16 GB (8x2) on newegg for DDR3 1333 modules. Seems odd - is it a limitation of the motherboard? the chipset?

    Supports yes, but you probably won't actually hit those speeds unless you overclock your CPU. The CPU and memory speeds are in effect linked, so in order to achieve high memory speeds you must also be able to achieve high CPU clock speeds.

    8+ GB notebook memory moduls are still crazy expensive as far as I know.
