    i brought a stock m14x with 4g ram and brought 4g to install myself, but for some reason im hearing it only has 2 slots for ram which are already used is this true?

    yes thats true. you needed to get the whole 8 gb in 2 chips(2x4GB) for it to upgrade to 8

    ok thanks guess ill just use 6 gigs untill i get 4 more.

    Any reason you need 8? Make sure you'll actually need that much memory! most people barely get over 4gb usage!

    i find 8GB reasonable ATM. but more ram so it all gets cheaper in future :p
