how good are the computers on the dell outlet. the discounts there are massive. Are they all dinged up ? "refurb" means new outer shell or what?

Not a scratch anywhere. It's as if you received a new computer for the most part. Even if you had an issue Dell would take care of you. The key is to wait for coupons and check it like a hawk. Took me 5 days of looking off and on before I found the one. Total out the door ended up being around $1350 for mine.

How often does Dell put out new coupons? Any idea?

I just missed the massive 20% of any Dell Outlet desktop or laptop that expired yesterday. :(

I even found one I liked and tried to order it but kept encountering some error with the site and it wouldn't let me complete the transaction, so I got screwed out of a $340 discount. Not cool.

I have ordered a few laptops from the Dell Outlet over the years and they have all looked brand new. They came in a generic brown box. If you order an Alienware, don't expect it to come with any added accessories that new laptops come with (Alienware hat, laptop sleeve, etc).

All of mine are from the dell outlet. Got 1 m11x had a crack upper right corner on the screen. I called them for a replacement screen they built me a new one with upgrades. The desktop was an Aurora that was replaced with a Aurora ALX with upgrades also. You get treated just as well if not better than the new build buyers are. I have no regrets buying from them. ;)
