So when I tried to play my copy of gta iv. I played it with my glorious 384mb of intel shared memory. Which is utter crap and looks like my dad
s tv from 1989 playing a vhs. So I wanted to fix this so I read on the forums here people having this same issue. I saw two things you could do so I tried the first thing. Which was right clicking the game and saying use high performance gpu. That didn't work so I did the 2nd thing and downloaded the driver from nvidia.com. Then the driver says my hardware isn't compatible. Basically I am assuming I got shipped a fried gt 555m or I need to get a older driver.

    Here is the image:

What should I do? I am really confused and I hope I don't have to pay for my laptop to be shipped from a apo to dell. -.-

This is my 2nd day using my alienware by the way.
    EDIT:
fixing at the moment asked on a different thread and was helped by a user mentioning laptopvideo2go.com. This website is amazing, I wonder how the hell would the m14x work without the user who made that site...
    edit again:
can't fix this issue some tried downloading 280.26 from laptop2go and the 275 one from laptop2go all driver's say they are not compatible. -...-
What directory do I put the modded ini file in? I looked all over the laptop2go forums it says I must overwrite the file, but I looked in all of the folders and couldn't find anything named "nvwi.inf" to overwrite in the first place.

Really confused, can't play games need help.

I just did that, this is the problem i am having so i posted this topic. This is the entire point of this, -.-.

I did however get 267 from my cd, and will try to install 280.26 again. Also I right click gta iv launcher and tell it to run with the gt 555m. Instead it runs with intel shared, hooray this is bull ....
Also I did try the laptop2go version of the 280.26, and put in the modified ini still no luck.

Looks like a entire day of tickering because dell is a bunch of knocking idiots. That don't know anything about sending a laptop that can play games out of the box.

HOORAY it didn't work again, ing bull !
Also tried installing nvidia graphics driver version 275.48
    Also it says
"this is not compatible with your version of windows"
The installer claims it works with windows 7 YEA MY ING IT DOES ING RETARDED DUMBS!

Check your BIOS to see whether GT555m is listed.
If it is not reflash the BIOS.

If it is listed, follow the instructions to install those drivers.

Hmm I see another problem, they are giving me the international version of the driver since I reside in Germany. How ever I speak english and do not own the german / english copy of windows. Maybe that is why it doesn't work... Gotta love it when people judge your pc on cookies not actual fact.

Where do i get the bios flash from?? What would you recommend by the way. Kinda of nooby in bois flashing as well.
    FIXED:
    it says:
Intel shared aka scum of the earth
Nvidia gfx or something like that.
It's listed its just being a little french man showing up in all of its guns and glory. Then we the action comes it goes to intel shared ... -.- I have manually set gta iv EFLC to be ran with the 555m, not only does that not even work. But how in the hell does it not work, nothing makes sense to me atm.

The link I posted is for the Verde drivers, which should work, they're not the regular NVidia drivers. They're not even the regular notebook drivers. If you haven't downloaded them, I would do so. I was in the same boat as you as far as updating drivers till I found the Verde ones.

Here's the actual link for em, the one I posted up above was wrong. http://nvidiaforums.s3.amazonaws.com/dell.zip

Have you try the other way like: first install the driver Without the mod inf then after you see the error, click on close and then copy the modded inf to the setup folder and try again.

Because this is what I do with the earlier version (275.33). Beside why do you want to update to the 280.26 version? Because I dont see much change or improvement for game much other than supports for the 3D stuff which on M14x is unsupported. Plus there are reports that some game even perform worse after update, personally I'd just stick to the 275.33 since it do just fine for me.

This exact same thing happened to me when I just got my laptop a day ago.
The drivers that came installed/on the resource DVD did not work at all.
I installed the 280.26 WHQL drivers using these instructions Alienware M14x - Update Nvidia driver - YouTube
    and now everything is fine.
You have to use those instructions because in typical Dell fashion they won't let you use non-OEM drivers (which apparently don't even work).
One note, for some reason when trying to download the drivers from NVIDIA, my download would keep ending prematurely. After hours of trying to download the ****** driver, I tried using a VPN to my university and it finally let me download.
    Thanks for nothing Dell!

    Hello,

This is my first post here, but I've been reading your thoughts for many months as I was contemplating the purchase of my M14x, which has arrived.

I tried installing the 280.26 driver. With the instructions from the above video, I was successful. However, in my Nvidia Corps. folder, there was no Listdevices file, nor did I find it anywhere else.

I launched the setup file anyway and it seemed to have worked. I still need to test it.
