    can you upgrade a m14x cpu from i5 to i7 yourself and what about the gpu?

    Yes you can upgrade the cpu, there is a very good tutorial on youtube. You can't however upgrade the gpu because it's soldered to the motherboard.

    And btw, from what I've read all over this forum, you don't really wan't to change the i5 if you use the m14x primarily for gaming. The performance difference won't be much and the i7 generates more heat.

    yea I wouldn't Advice swapping the CPU unless you really need the extra power. You won't really see any performance increases even if you do switch as most games don't make use of more than 2 cores anyway as far as I understand. People are having issues with the i-7 due to heating, they are hitting over 90C :eek:
