My fingers are crossed for this but I don't think they are in any rush.

I am hoping that the delay means that the chassis will get a bit smaller with the 800m upgrade.

If they don't update until Q4 then they are going to lose my business.

We have no info about this yet. It could be anytime soon or could not happen at all.

Considering I am starting to see sales on them everywhere, I would say yes, a refresh is coming. I hope so anyway, because that's why I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. :)

I'm waiting for it too :D

I hope that the chassis and mobo design will remain the same, so i will just get a new mobo, do the swap and call it good ;)

I hope you're wrong , I hope they redesign it with dual cooling fan, lose the optical drive, make it slightly thinner from 1.6" to 1.25" and lose about 1-1.5lb and add another option for a black color instead of just silver and slap in a gtx 860m maxwell.

    2014 Alienware 14
    - 4700mq/hq or better
    - Maxwell GTX 860m
    - Dual Cooling Fans x1 for gpu and x1 for cpu
    - Slightly thinner of 1.25" instead of 1.6"
    - 5-5.5lb instead of 6.5lb
    - Color option

@Benchmade 42, Don't have such high expectations. Minor changes is the only thing you can expect. Though I'm also totally pro dual fan instead of optical drive. Better cooling in laptop is one of THE most important things, even more so on a gaming laptop, so they should definitely learn from Asus their G-line laptops.

On the other hand I'm really getting frustrated here. Today this morning I saw this video (see below) of the alienware booth coverage on PAX east where the new alienware 18 with a 4K display has been confirmed! You see this is the 2nd update for the alienware 18 and both times it was announced in such events. This time it was on Pax East, previously on the nvidia conference (announcement of 800 series GPU on the alienware 17 adn 18). But NOTHING for the alienware 14. Not a single word weather there will be an update or not they don't give a single damn. I saw the CPU update on the alienware 14 a few days ago which I posted here, and they haven't said a single word of it, not on their website, not on their twitter, not on their newsfeed, ... NOWHERE. And it's only available in the US, which doesn't make any sense since all the orders internationally all are sent to the same manufacturer in China which directly send them to the costumer.

So I'm very confused in terms of expecting an alienware 14 which really does frustrate me. The new Hasswell refresh lineup for the desktop has been announced. Soon the 800 series desktop graphics cards will release, so I'm going over to make a mini ITX desktop instead. I really did like the 14 inch lineup of alienware, which is the reason I stayed at using laptops, but this is bull. I've had it.

If you watch the video, they state it's only outputting TO a 4K monitor, which is a Dell monitor, not the screen on the laptop itself at 4K.

I see, Sorry for my mistake. But at least they updated the CPU like they did on the alienware 14. And they did show it there explicitly that ti contains the new i7-4940mx.
But I see your point. I overlooked that one, my apologies.
