G'day guys,
I'm having problems in regards to the lighting on my brand new M14 (The 2013 R3 Refresh, aka the 'new' one). After placing the laptop in sleep mode and storing it in my bag for an hour, when I took it out all the lighting effects wouldn't work. When I go into the AW command center and apply a new theme, all the lights will turn on for a brief moment then turn off. The same applies when I turn off 'Go Dark' mode, it will turn all the lights on only for 2 to 3 seconds then they turn off. I tried playing Battlefield 3 (which assumes direct control of the lighting) and the lights turn on while the game is booting then turn off in the same way as the previous two methods mentioned above.
I've tried rebooting, re-installing the command center, switching power modes, swearing, etc to no avail.
Any assistance with this would be appreciated, I love this machine so far and would be bummed if I had to let this go. (Backlit keyboard is very important for my use.)
EDIT: I had a discussion with a Dell rep and apparently toggling the 'Dim Lighting Zones' feature fixed it.

Update: I fixed it

AlienFX and sleep sometimes have issues.. I never had any problems with my M11xR2, but have one occurrence with the 14 prior to doing a fresh install on Win7. Since then it's been fine.

What did you do to fix it? I have the exact same issue on my new 17

WOW, after multiple calls to dell, re-imaging my machine several times, etc etc and this works....Dell wanted me to ship my machine back...thanks for posting this, so glad it worked but very frustrated with Dell.

That and a new Command Center version have been released to fix the issue.

How did you fix it? I've had the exact same problem after trying to play Cities XL, one of those AlienFX games. I went to dell support and tried uninstalling command center and even re-installing the BIOS. I haven't been able to call tech-support yet because it happened around 11pm last night. I also have the brand new m14.
EDIT: Sorry I didn't scroll down far enough to see you replied with the solution earlier. -
