I never had this problem before, but basic troubleshooting step 1, uninstall and reinstall the command centre, because those are control by the AlienFX which is the command centre stuff.

And also try clicking on the "Go Dark" and "Go Light" back again, oh and another thing also make sure that you have the tick the "Keep Status Zone On During Go Dark" Because if you dont tick it, it may shut the Wireless and caplock indicator off as well when you go dark.

I just got my M14x but having the same problem as OP. I played around with the AlienwareFX editor and changed all the colors but zone 9 (Wifi + Caps Lock LED) just wont light up. I tried "going dark" and back to "going light" a few times but no luck. I toggled that "Keep Status Zone On During Go Dark" option and went dark to light to dark a few times. No luck.

I'll try to re-install the command center but this is fresh out of the box :(. Hopefully its not a hardware issue.

i doubt a HW problem, more a hanging software lightFX stuff.

is there any chance in the AlienwareFX to preview a color lighting? any way to throw any color at it?

what here works is: press caps lock, so its on (maybe enable wifi too), open alienwareFX, click section 9 (the leds) and push around on the color spin. changes here instantly the color as soon as i click it.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. Whenever I press the caps-lock key I get no lights. Wifi is always on and no light. I test in notepad and verify that my caps lock is on. I'm planning on doing a fresh Win7 install anyways so will see how it goes after that. Thanks.

Did a fresh install of Windows 7 HP and reinstalled Alienware Control Center a few times to no avail, still no WiFi + Caps lock LEDs. Guess I have to contact Dell support.

For anyone with the same issue or wondering; Dell came to replace these parts

    Part Number Quantity Description
    RD54C 00001 ASSEMBLY...,PRINTED WIRING ASSY...,INDICATOR...,ANW,M14X

    8WH0V 00001 ASSEMBLY...,PRINTED WIRING ASSY...,FRT LT,RIGHT...,ANW,M14X

but when the technician took apart my M14x he found that someone at the factory forgot to connect the wifi+caps-lock indicator light cable to the motherboard! Just an FYI in case you're having the same issue. Note you do have to pry off the keyboard plastic bezel cover which if you're not careful you can snap the plastic tabs off :(.
