Shortly after I received my M14x R2, I noted that transfer speeds from my NAS and the notebook were much slower than they should be, even though I had a network cable plugged in, about 2.3 MB/s during a file copy. I manually disabled WiFi and boom, it's up to 35-45Mb+/second (normally it could be even faster but I'm using an unRAID server).

I don't understand why the system doesn't use the superior network connection when it is available, like it does on regular everyday PCs, using Intel, Realtek and other NICs. The end result is that I now have to disable WiFi (using that mouse-only window that appears when you use the keyboard shortcut, what irony), and anytime I disconnect my notebook and take it somewhere else, I have to remember to turn WiFi on again.

Seems like a a PITA for a Killer product, so I have to think there is something in the configuration where this could be corrected. I've been tolerating it because I don't know what this connection switching feature is called in order to try to do more research on it.

The built-in Bluetooth of this card also isn't working properly for me. I can pair my headphones, but my headphones only beep once instead of twice, which means that the high quality audio isn't connected. Windows doesn't switch the audio over to it automatically, so when I change it using Playback Devices, I can click the volume bar 2 or 3 times, and hear the very low quality ding noises, then there is a wait cursor, eventually followed by a Windows Mixer is not responding message. At this point the volume bar is no longer usable, even with BT disabled and the default device changed back to the builtin audio, I actually have to do a reboot to fix it, as the built in audio no longer works at all. Yeesh!

I was going to go with one of the Intel Wireless cards but the Dell rep told me the Killer was a superior option and that I had to have it. If any kind souls have a solution (pulling the card out and stomping on it has been considered, lol), it would be appreciated.

I have been using my R2 for 2 months now plugged in to Ethernet cable and connected to WiFi simultaneously and haven't noticed any speed issues. While connected to both my R2 uses the Ethernet connection rather than the WiFi. Not sure why yours would be acting differently.
