I have been toying with the idea of doing a total clean install of Win7 to see if i get any improvement, so far i have stuck with the original install that came with the laptop and i must say i have not had any issues as of yet.

Guess what i am trying to gauge is if there are any really noticable benefits by doing this? the bloatware does not really get in the way for me from what i can tell and overall system performance is excellent at the moment.

Anyone able to share expeirences/suggestions? (i have read the clean install guide before this just wanted some fresh perspective :) )

One simple sentence: If it doesnt break, dont fix it.

Unless the original Windows that already installed with the laptop is starting to having problem or start to slow the laptop down then you can do a clean install in it. Reason I said doesnt break dont fix is that when you do a clean install, some application like the Webcam application, Roxio Creator Starter, and McAfee (which is useless and will slow the laptop down) will not be found on the Resource DVD, you'll have to register at a website where you can download those however I forgot the link, I'll link it to you when I found it.

One simple Sentence: If you want it done right, do it yourself.

Unless you NEED Roxio Starter?? There is no reason not to do a fresh install. The drivers that come on an M14x are based off a system image from 12 months ago. So either update all your drivers on a system with bloatware, or enjoy a clean-fresh Windows 7 install. You'll literally never uninstall McAfee completely, it will always have hooks into your system.

I've been doing this a long time, and after Dell bought Alienware it got better, but they still bundle I dont need/use

Talking about the bloatware, Alienware has the least, unlike other brand like Sony, Toshiba, and ASUS that came with tons of bloatware. For Alienware there're only 1 bloatware, the other 2 (Roxio & Webcam app) I dont think it is a bloatware since it is rather useful to me. And for the McAfee, you cant completely install it unless you delete those remnant registry off the computer.
