I just noticed that system in the control panel is saying I have 6 GB of ram installed but only 4.39GB usable. I have the 64 bit version install, what's going on?

Here's a couple of things you can try

    Check the system configuration settings

    1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Search box and hit enter.
    2. In the System Configuration window, click Advanced options on the Boot tab.
    3. Click to clear the Maximum memory check box, and then click OK.
    4. Restart the computer.

    Reseat RAM modules

    1. Remove the bottom cover
    2. Remove both RAM modules
    3. Try one at a time, then try both together.

Thanks, going to msconfig and clearing the checkbox seems to have fixed it. Now it says 5.88GB usable, where is that 0.12GB going?

Mine shows 16 gig 15.9 usable. I changed my memory and still have the same thing. I have no issues with performance so I guess its no big deal. Some say its the system reserving some memory for something.
