I have seen the stickied thread for Clean Install Windows 7, but it is a bit dated. I noticed that Windows 10 already downloads the Intel HD graphics driver, Audio driver, USB drivers, etc. It almost seems like most of the drivers don't even need to be downloaded from the Dell website. I noticed that the WiFi drivers for the Intel 6250 can't be installed for some reason, but the WiFi works fine.

So...is it best to just leave the laptop alone after a clean install and forget the drives (since Windows seems to download them anyways)?

Got it on my r2 did an upgrade straight from 7. Everything working out of the box other than the damned OSD application - tried the 7 version, 8 version, 8.1 version and also the version for the newer 14 but it refuses to operate. If anyone figures this out let us know!

Hey guys - so I upgraded from Windows 7 and then did a clean install. I had no issues at all and didn't even need to install any drivers. It actually automatically installed my NVidia drivers, sound driver, and my Intel HD graphics driver. Everything is working great.

However, I am not sure on Alienware Command Center - haven't tried installing that.

Anyone have their webcam working on the AW 14? My upgrade to 10 did not manage to install the webcam, I've even loaded the Dell webcam software and had no luck. I also have two unknown devices in the device manager.

I've used Windows 10 for a few months on my M14x R1 through Insider previews.

One of the first things I noticed was that Win10 replaces the original audio driver--this new driver displays "Alienware Audio" over the toolbar icon and disables the Creative Sound Blaster software enhancement. MaxxAudio under Speaker/Headphone also seems to be disabled, with no settings to adjust. The result is a diminished sound quality. Haven't found a way to return to the original driver--Win10 seems to reinstall the newer driver immediately after I install the old one.

Additionally, Command Center will occasionally give crash errors, sometimes on startup. When this happens, the only effect is that the lighting gets messed up.
