So I'm getting my AW with 8 gigs but want to know if the AW ram will fit into a MBP 15" (2011 version)? I want to take a 4 out of the AW and switch it with a 2 in the MBP.

should work, the MBP will just downclock it. ... watch out as MBPs are known to NOT like mismatched speeds on their ram

I tried to put my extra rams from m14x into my wife's macbook regular (the one with metal body) and it refused to boot. So I don't know

did you pull the origional ram first?, Apples EFI firmware tends to get grouchy sometmes when you install RAM of different speeds

I pulled both the 1 GBs originals out from Mac, and they were both Samsungs too. Then I put in the 2GBs Samsungs from m14x and checked everything twice before I closed it. It just wouldn't start. I looked closely at the labels and the originals from Mac said 2Rx16, the m14x said 1Rx8 so I don't know if that makes a difference.

yep older MB/MBP's dont like some of the higher density RAM. my 2011 MBP freaked out over my 8GB SODIMMS I pulled from my elitebook to see if it would go to 16.

the newer MBP's will seem to take higher density RAM but will on occasion go nuts when the speed is mismatched.

yes but some AW's ship with 1800 .. FYI the 2.2 and 2.3 freaks right out on high density 8GB 1600 modules.
