Hey guys, recently purchased the m14x and it's working great, except for one issue.

When I wake my computer from sleep or hibernation the wifi card (Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN) doesn't reconnect to my router automatically (even though the "connect automatically" box is selected), and when I manually select the network it takes 1 or 2 minutes to get internet access. Once online everything is fine.

I've tried a number of things... disabling power saving in the alienware command center, boosting the wifi power, and trying to disable and uninstall "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" in the device manager. So far: no go. Anyone else have this issue?

Have you tried reinstalling/updating your drivers. I would do this.

    Hi ia_,

Check out this article I found, It might help. There's also this one, that has a few troubleshooting steps you might want to try.
I think it would also be a good idea to go to the device manager, right click on the network adapter, go to properties, then power management and deselect the box that says "Allow my computer to turn off this device to save power", restart the system and test it. Let me know how it goes.

If anyone sees this thread and is having this problem, here's a possible solution:

Go into Device Manager and uninstall the driver for the wireless card. Then reboot, and let Windows rediscover the card and reinstall the driver.

    Problem solved!

I've got the Wireless N 2230 running under Win7 x64 and have had this problem since I got the laptop over a year ago, and this solved it. I'd like someone to explain WHY this works! But it does, and it did for me!

Same here: quick reinstall did it all! Also an N2230. As to why, it reset all the settings back to default -- maybe one was off that needed to be on but I could not tell any difference. Also, MS virtual wifi miniport adapters #1 and #2 became #7 & #8. I had previously turned off #1 & #2 to solve the problem -- which it did not. I left them off because the internet seemed faster without them. Now I'm just not touching the wifi settings -- 13/2.5 Mbps is fine with me (esp. from Verizon iPhone 5 hotspot).

    In all events, thank you!
