    Hello.
I'm the unlucky one and decided to put new disk to my m14x just in the time Dells page aren't working so fighting hard getting all the drivers.

Now I have installed Wifi Link 1000 BGN driver ane neither OST utillity starts the card nor it can be started in adapters. Not sure what is the issue.

    Any ideas?

I might be jumping the gun here, but most intel 1000 wifilink are garbage. I know because I had to replace mine. I'm sure if you call dell and waste an hour, they would send you an intel 6250 for free. If not they're only 20 bucks on ebay.

But its a new laptop, I have it for a week. I was just changing hard drives and reinstaling and now even as everything seems to be fine with the drivers card won't turn on if I do anything.

How much cost the killer wifi one? I'd probably go for that one if I have to buy new one, but it never happened to me that wifi would go off. Can't it be because of that dell software or any other reason. I was checking BIOS and its all fine in there.

    Thanks

I've played around with 5 or so drivers for the intel wifi link because I had really doubted it was a hardware problem. Mine would disconnect, some times not even connect, when my other laptops did. But when I installed my intel 6250, instantly there were no more issues. Try played with the drivers, and settings in the device manager.

I have the same issue with the intell 1000, called dell 5 times and they finally agreed to replace it. The reasons I insist on asking them to replace is because I bought my m14x on June, given that it's still warranty, they are under obligation to replace it. And also because of their GREAT tech support. One of the tech even refuse to diagnose the issue and were telling me it's because of my router and he is under no obligation to fix my router. After telling him I just reset my router, and all my other devices worked, he blamed it on my ISP. LOL

But currently it's out of stock from DELL, delivery time unknown. I'm going to order 6250. Dell tech support sucks!

I was digging into it a lot last night, lots of people have a same problem with this card, most of people who tried to solve it through the dell were just utterly disappointed so I think I will just buy the killer wifi card. Wanted it anyway. Apparently drivers for the Wifi 1000 are very unstable and keep crashing and breaking all the time, might as well save myself nerves with that.

Could someone explain me a bit why the killer card is supposed to be better? Never had to think about wifi upgrade before so not sure how does it matter.

Also if anyone could give me link where to buy it within UK would be most appreciated.

    Thank you

The killer 1102 is kinda overkill IMO. It's supposed to have better range, a more stable connection, but since it only has 2 antennae connectors, the data rates are 300 maximum, the same as a 6250 and even the wifi link 1000. I also heard some people having issues with the killer 1102, but i believe it's fixed with an update. I would suggest getting a 6250, save some money, but if you want the killer 1102, its still a good card.

Intel 6250 only 15 bucks here.
    Genuine Intel® Centrino® Advanced?N + WiMAX 6250 622AGX | eBay

    Killer 1102 45 bucks here.
    Bigfoot networks Killer Wireless-N 1102 | eBay

I really don't know where you can get it in the uk, but both ships worldwide from the US.
